California Adventures – Loving Life Having Fun

Campland on the Bay, San Diego, California

Map

This one is a bucket-list campground. Campland on the Bay sits right on Mission Bay in San Diego — water views, beach access, and a campground that somehow makes you forget you're in a major city. The dogs lost their minds at the water. We lost ours at the sunsets. And when the whole crew shows up — Joe & Tina, Jason & Delia, Amanda, Josh, and Ronald — Mission Bay becomes the family's annual playground. Tiki boats, 50s diners, waterfront nights, and the Brinkley Z3400 flying the colors. Loving Life Having Fun doesn't get much better than this.

Ocean Beach Dog Beach, San Diego, California

Map

Off-leash and in the ocean — because some adventures are just for the dogs. Ocean Beach Dog Beach is one of the few spots in San Diego where the pups run free, splash in the Pacific, and live their absolute best lives. Zero, Reecee, and Kodi made the most of every wave.

Desert Hot Springs & Palm Springs, California

Map

Desert Hot Springs sits just north of Palm Springs and is famous for its natural mineral hot springs — the kind that actually soak the road miles right out of your bones. We stayed at the KOA Palm Springs / Desert Hot Springs, a great base camp for exploring the entire Coachella Valley. From there it's a short cruise down to Palm Springs itself — mid-century modern architecture, the Aerial Tramway, world-class dining, and that unmistakable desert glamour. The dogs approved of the warm evenings. We approved of pretty much everything else.

LEGOLAND California, Carlsbad, California

Map

LEGOLAND California in Carlsbad is pure, unapologetic fun — and not just for kids. The park is built around the idea that everything is more awesome when it's made of LEGO bricks, and honestly, they're not wrong. Miniland USA alone is worth the price of admission — entire cities, landmarks, and scenes recreated in jaw-dropping LEGO detail. Add in the rides, the interactive builds, and the fact that you can eat a LEGO brick-shaped waffle, and you've got a day that goes by way too fast. We had a blast.
